Elam Health and Wellness is a family medicine practice that provides comprehensive care to meet a wide array of health needs. In addition to managing acute illnesses, chronic diseases, and general health, Dr. Opusunju also performs procedures.
The procedures she offers at the family medicine practice include:
To alleviate joint pain and inflammation for arthritis or injury, Dr. Opusunju performs joint injections. These injections contain a steroid and local anesthetic that alleviates pain and inflammation to improve joint function and health.
Joint injections take about 20 minutes and may provide pain relief for a few weeks or a few months.
For skin abscesses, Dr. Opusunju performs incision and drainage procedures. She first administers a local anesthetic to ease discomfort and then makes an incision at the site of your abscess, drains the fluid and puss, cleans the abscess, and covers the wound.
Dr. Opusunju may send a sample of the fluid from your abscess for testing and provide an antibiotic if you have a bacterial infection. She schedules a follow-up appointment to monitor healing of your incision.
Dr. Opusunju performs cryotherapy to remove abnormal skin growths, such as warts, skin tags, or cancerous lesions. Cryotherapy involves freezing the skin growth, which destroys the tissue.
Dr. Opusunju also performs procedures to diagnose health problems. Diagnostic procedures available at Elam Health and Wellness include:
Vascular studies are noninvasive tests that evaluate the movement of blood through your arteries and veins. Dr. Opusunju may request vascular studies to look for blood clots or narrowing in your arteries.
An EKG is a test that measures the electrical activity of your heart.
During an ABI, Dr. Opusunju compares blood pressure readings from your arm with blood pressure readings from your ankle to confirm or rule out peripheral artery disease.
QSART, also known as a sweat test, measures the nerves that control body sweat to diagnose autonomic nervous system disorders, peripheral neuropathy, and certain types of pain conditions.
Spirometry is a lung function test that measures the amount of air you breathe in and out, and how fast you can breathe air out of your lungs.
Dr. Opusunju determines when you need medical or diagnostic procedures at the time of your visit. These procedures may be used to assess an acute illness or for chronic disease management.
